My Spring wreath on my front door has sprung. It was faded from several years of use and needed new life.
If you haven’t noticed, wreaths are expensive. Because the wreath-makers are proud people.
I pulled off the old stuff from the grapevine wreath and waited for inspiration.
It came in the latest issue of Country Living Magazine and from the candy aisle.

I bought one pound of Jordan Almonds ($6).
I fired up my glue gun and created this:

I hung it with some leftover ribbon and spray painted several coats of clear matte glaze to weatherproof it (and to stop myself from peeling off the yummy almonds in a desperate sugar rush).
Tips for making candy wreaths:
Works for Me Wednesday Participants
1. Use what you have (old wreaths can be made new again!)
2. Cover the wreath in candy and glue a few on the second layer for dimension.
3. Be creative-candy can make a great adornment if you seal it (Robin’s eggs, Jelly Beans, Peeps?) Coat the candy thoroughly with the sealant.
4. Carefully store by wrapping the wreath in paper and placing it in a box in a room temperature area. It should last a couple of years.
ADDED:
5. If you are experiencing a lot of moisture in your weather, I would use the wreath indoors. I had to reapply the sealant spray due to all the rain we’ve had.
{Thank you for joining me for WFMW! I’m so glad you’re here. You can read the guidelines here. You will find they are exactly like Shannon’s from Rocks in My Dryer. I’m excellent at copying and pasting. Some changes may occur in the future, but for now, the host is the only difference in this carnival.}

Very cute! Thanks for the tip about spraying the candy, I was wondering how to keep critters from eating the craft!
Toni
So cute! I love all the bright colors!
Love it. I think Peeps would be adorable too!
The clear sealant is a great tip-I can totally see myself breaking into that wreath for a sugar buzz during the 4pm energy crisis.
It is soooo cute!
What a cute wreath idea! Love it
and would love to eat it.
Great idea Charlotte! I think peeps would make an excellent wreath.
But seriously, do I have to spray it? I’d much rather hang it in my kitchen and take a bite each time I walk through.
It’s a very cute idea, but knowing my diet weakness…I’d eat it! LOL
Brilliant! And really?? A couple years??? That’s amazing!! And the sealant would make it so that my toddler wouldn’t gnaw on it, awesome!!
Very cute!
Cute! I don’t know that I could make one, though. I’d eat them first.
What a cute idea! You are so creative!
I love the colors! So…how many did ya eat while making it???
~Kim
That is very cute! I saw that in the magazine and was thinking about trying to make one myself. I never thought about using different types of candy. I am going to have to go look and see what types of candy I can find!
That wreath is so much fun…, love it! Thanks for hosting this event.
Oh my gosh…you are so talented and smart!!! What a great wreath make over. It looks just like the magazine photo. Thanks for making my old tired spring wreath look worse now. *grin* But you did inspire me to try my hand at my own make over. Not sure what I’ll do with it yet, but I’ll do something!
You did a great job recreating the wreath. Cute!
Love, love, love the wreath. Very creative! Thanks =)
Beautiful wreath!
Ya, without the glaze, I’d probably eat that sucker, too.
Beautiful and fresh…I never would have thought to make one myself – thanks for the tip
Totally adorable and you really have me thinking, Hey, I could do that! Which really? I can’t. But you did a fantastic job and I would seriously be walking my dog past your house just to enjoy your wreath if you were in my neighborhood. Great job!
What a GREAT idea! I saw this and have been waffling about making one, but yours is ADORABLE! I think I might make one for our front closet.
What a cute idea. However, I have a bad feeling that they would disappear before I ever finished the craft!
Love the wreath! I look forward to the day when the spare room is set up with my crafty stuff so I can be crafty again. My unadorned walls are crying out for adornment!
Yeah- my first post!
Your wreath is absolutely adorable! Crafty things are so much fun … thank you for showing us!
Whoops! Forgot to post the topic. I don’t see a delete link option or I’d redo my link. Sorry!
I don’t have a WFMW this week, but I am so making this wreath it isn’t even funny. Consider it DONE!
I’m not sure the candy would ever make it to the wreath LOL Actually, it probably would — however, if it were the new ALL NATURAL CHEETOES – those wouldn’t make it.
I think it’s a crime to have all natural cheetoes. There is no redeeming value in a cheeto and to have all natural ones is just hysterical. but they are soooo good.
But I digress — I love the wreath!!
Oooh! How fun! The colors are so vibrant and Springy!! Love it!
Wow that is a really cool wreath!
What a cute wreath and I just love the colors! It’s so Spring. And aren’t glue guns the greatest.
I’m not so sure if the candy would make it onto the door. We are a sweet tooth family.
So cute. Thanks for sharing. blessings.
The wreath looks so good. I would have a hard time not eating the Jordan Almonds before gluing them on the wreath.
As usual, you are fabulous! What a great idea. I’ve been wanting something 3-dimensional to hang in the dining room, and this would be perfect. Are you sure we can’t eat the candy after it’s been sprayed…hmmmm….
Looks great Kristen – you are so creative. I wish I had just an ounce of your talent!
That is adorable! Yeah, definitely have to spary it with sealant–or that baby would be eaten in no time in a moment of desperation!
You are awesome!
Your wreath is making me hungry!
Thanks for sharing that!
Visit To Love, Honor and Vacuum today!
I don’t think I could make myself put glue on those precious almonds!! I’d be eating them faster than I could glue. The wreath is very cute though!
So simple and very springy! Thanks for sharing and hosting WFMW.
Your wreath is too cute! I just can’t decorate with food, especially candy.
I like to eat it too much.
How cute is that!!! I love the craftiness of it all. Do you think the sealant will preserve it year-to-year?
Very cute! I wonder if I would be able to keep myself from eating the almonds long enough to glue and seal them…
I get this mag. and it is sooo nice to see an actual person make it!! Thanks.
Peeps? Now that would be fun!
What an awesome and cute idea!!!!
That is so pretty! I was just thinking the other day that I needed a new wreath. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for hosting!
~Liz
What a clever idea! That wreath looks good enough to eat.
Thanks for hosting the party again this week–always lots of fun!
That wreath IS so cute! I thought you bought it! It’s so perfect and spring-y!
I will be saving this idea! Wouldn’t it be cute with candy hearts all over it for Valentine’s Day?
That is so cute! Great idea. Thanks for hosting this carnival.
~Susan
I’ll be honest. I was expecting the usual ribbon wreath when I saw this in my reader, but that is just gorgeous. If it didn’t rain so much here I would totally have that on my door.
I can still buy and eat the sweets though, right?
You are so crafty! The wreath looks amazing!
Oh cute! You are very smart to have saved the wreath for its new life. I love how it turned out! And I never thought of spraying a sealant on it. That too is very smart!
Holy Jordan Almond blasphemy!!!
I could never harm those delicious tasty morsels of goodness with that glue gun!
I would eat THEM ALLLLLLLLL!!!!
It’s cute though.
I eat those badboys until my mouth hurts. Addicting!
Looks colorful and tasty. I wonder if animals will eat them though?
What a clever idea. If I used jordan almonds I’m not sure how many would actually make it onto the wreath–I’d need to use jelly beans because I don’t like them nearly as much!
What a cute wreath idea! Thanks for hosting WFMW!
Great idea! I don’t have a WFMW this week, but I love reading yours.
I am so impressed that you can have all of these beautiful and adorable candy decorations and your kids don’t eat them.. or you don’t eat them!! Unfortunately that stuff wouldn’t last a day around here!
LOVE your Easter spring wreath – thanks for inspiring me
Happy Belated St Patricks Day too!
What a perfect little wreath! Thanks and we’re going to do one of these before Easter!!
How adorable! A stylish and edible wreath! My son would love helping! Thank you!
LOVE the wreath! Too bad I’m all thumbs… but even a dope like me could do that! SO CUTE!!
Very cute!
I’m glad to know there’s a use for surplus candy! We always wind up with excess at holidays, and I’m pretty good at not eating too much of it so as to set a good example for my 4-year-old, but then nobody eats it!!
so… totally didn’t put my wfmw title thingy after my name… oops! can’t figure out how to delete it… grr.
You are one strong person! I would have ate those jordon almonds,I love them! Beautiful job!
Cute. Awesome job.
That is so cute. I need to try something like that!
LOVE this wreath.
Your wreath is so festive and springy! I love it! I hope the coating you put on the candy works as a deterrent to eating it
I’m not sure I could trust myself.
Sorry I messed up on posting my chocolate sauce link, by the way, and had to post it a second time. I hope you can delete the first one. Thanks
Shame on you!
Jordan Almonds are for eating, not for gluing! Get those little circus peanuts to glue on a wreath, or jelly beans, but not my beloved Jordan Almonds. Adorable wreath! Thanks for posting your picture. You did a great job… what a waste of some perfectly delectable jordan almonds, though.
CUTE idea! I love it! Oh my, I could spend all day reading everyone’s ideas…must restrain myself!
Yay! I pulled this page from Country Living, too, but haven’t made a wreath yet. Yours looks great!
I’m a little offended you mistreated those Jordan Almonds like that.
{grumbles} perfectly good chocolate hung on the wall…what is the world coming to…
