My Spring wreath on my front door has sprung. It was faded from several years of use and needed new life.
If you haven’t noticed, wreaths are expensive. Because the wreath-makers are proud people.
I pulled off the old stuff from the grapevine wreath and waited for inspiration.
It came in the latest issue of Country Living Magazine and from the candy aisle.

I bought one pound of Jordan Almonds ($6).
I fired up my glue gun and created this:
I hung it with some leftover ribbon and spray painted several coats of clear matte glaze to weatherproof it (and to stop myself from peeling off the yummy almonds in a desperate sugar rush).
Tips for making candy wreaths:
Works for Me Wednesday Participants
1. Use what you have (old wreaths can be made new again!)
2. Cover the wreath in candy and glue a few on the second layer for dimension.
3. Be creative-candy can make a great adornment if you seal it (Robin’s eggs, Jelly Beans, Peeps?) Coat the candy thoroughly with the sealant.
4. Carefully store by wrapping the wreath in paper and placing it in a box in a room temperature area. It should last a couple of years.
ADDED:
5. If you are experiencing a lot of moisture in your weather, I would use the wreath indoors. I had to reapply the sealant spray due to all the rain we’ve had.

I’m not sure the candy would ever make it to the wreath LOL Actually, it probably would — however, if it were the new ALL NATURAL CHEETOES – those wouldn’t make it.
I think it’s a crime to have all natural cheetoes. There is no redeeming value in a cheeto and to have all natural ones is just hysterical. but they are soooo good.
But I digress — I love the wreath!!

I’m glad to know there’s a use for surplus candy! We always wind up with excess at holidays, and I’m pretty good at not eating too much of it so as to set a good example for my 4-year-old, but then nobody eats it!!
