Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this! I went to Christian school K-12th and was in church everytime the doors were open and can absolutely recite the books of the Bible. Just last week I was wishing my kids knew them...and now they will. Can't wait to start working on it.

When I was younger, our organist at church made up a song with the books of the Bible and we would sing it every Sunday, so I've actually known them since about 4th grade. of course, i have to sing the song to remember :). My kids are learning them in the Awanas program at church. So my husband is the only one who is behind.

I can say the books of the Bible, but only because I learned a song in elementary school WAY back in the 70's and it still pops into my head whenever I'm looking up a verse! LOL It really will stick with youe kids, trust me.

My kids have learned them for AWANA several times, but nothing stays in their memories like that old song stayed in mine. I'll have to give the Bible Bop song a try with them! Thanks!

We also do Bible drills (or sometimes they're called sword drills) a few times a week in order to learn to find verses easier. They love it.

We have a CD by Wee Sing that has one song for the Old Testament and one for the New Testament. Thanks for the reminder....I haven't seen that CD in awhile. I will have to hunt it down!

Yes, I can say them. I have no idea when I learned them...it was a long time ago. But it came in very handy on the obstacle course when I went on a Teen Missions trip in High School. I'm not sure when I'll start teaching my kids, though I'm sure my oldest(almost 5) could probably learn them now.

What a cutie! I remember learning the books of the Bible to a song when I was a little girl. The trouble is, I can't recite them without singing the tune. ;)
