Music for the Soul {Giveaway}

*UPDATED with WINNERS* Congrats to the Grand Prize Winner: Jennifer of A Beautiful Calling and the following random commenters one Britt Nicole’s awesome new CD: Texas Carlisle Family, Angie, Troop Petrie, Pam (pamwalkrey530@gmail.com) and jenleahlynn (ctstrong@juno.com)

My soul needs music. When I’m feeling down and stressed and my heart is occupied with clutter, worship lifts me up. It stirs me.

She had me at the word Africa.

I love this song by Britt Nicole. I cried while I watched this video. God is asking our family to walk on the water (I’ll be sharing more in September):

It’s about stepping out and being who God has called you to be and not being afraid of that,” states Britt. “I believe when we look different and carry something different, people are going to see that and want it too. They are going to see the love of Christ in us, and they’ll desire that. I believe people will come to know God if we as Christians will do that.”-Britt Nicole

I love this music!! It’s spunky and fun and deep. She draws from the well that is Jesus. She’s music I want my daughter’s humming!

Britt Nicole’s newest album, Acoustic, has her five biggest songs, including Walk on Water, and a new release.

Today, I’m giving away a GRAND PRIZE that includes: a custom-designed Britt Nicole T-shirt and Starbucks Coffee Mug and the CD. Plus, FIVE others will also win Acoustic, her latest CD.

Leave a comment telling me what worship/Christian music does for you and that will be your entry.

This giveaway ends on Thursday.

I listen to our Christian songs and I just LOVE them!! I have tried to memorize many of them so I can sing them around the house rather than just hum the melodies as I often do. The words are inspiring and so heartfelt.

    Julie Darr says

Worship music focuses my mind on God and His plan. It gives me the right and true perspective so that I can shed ME and MINE and other trivial pursuits.

  3. 6

Christian music keeps our house sane. With two little ones, it keeps mommy temper in check, keeps big boy’s mood happy, and baby girl spins around the house humming. I love it.

Praise and Worship music speaks to my soul. It draws me closer to my Heavenly Father. When listening to Christian music, I feel that God is holding me in His hand and is comforting me. My Daddy makes all of my problems disappear.

    says

Worship music helps me focus on God, the only one who really matters. It calms my spirit, reminds me what is important and it brings such peace over me even when I am troubled. How can you listen to songs about a wonderful magnificent God, and NOT be amazed and relieved in His saving grace?!!

  6. 10

    Kelley says

I can’t listen to any other radio stations in the car any more. It gives me perspective and I love when I hear my kids singing the tunes in the back seat!

  7. 11

    says

When I listen to Worship music it stirs my heart to seek God’s purpose for my life. I feel a deep connection to him when I allow worship music to wash over me and speak his truths. Love, love, love this video and I’m excited to watch you and your family step out and walk on water. Praying, be strong and courageous.

  8. 12

    says

I use Christian music to help me keep up the pace when I clean, to keep an upbeat and positive attitude in our house, and to keep my mind of things I shouldn’t be thinking about. Our Bible study group just finished Beth Moore’s study on the Fruit of the Spirit, and as part of self-control, she reiterated the need to keep pure what goes into our mind. Christian music helps with that a lot!!

  9. 13

    says

Worship reminds me that I’m not alone. Some days are pretty lonely over here and I need to be encouraged. I need to be reminded that my purpose for living is not for myself, but to bring Him glory.

Sometimes it just refocuses me. It lifts my chin to turn my eyes upward rather than letting me dwell on what’s going on around me.

    Thanks for the give-away!

Wow, I just watched the video. Thank you for putting it in the post for us to listen to. In our home, I have hymns and worship music playing almost all day long. It calms my soul, stirs it, keeps my focus on Him and reminds me of all there is to do for Him!

Music is that thing that pulls me heavenward when I am too focused on the things around me. It refreshes me. It focuses me. It lets me praise and worship The One I adore. And when I’m in the music with others, not only do I feel drawn closer to Him, I feel closer to those worshiping with me.
Thanks for the video. What a talented young lady. What a call to everyone to step out in faith!

  14. 19

    says

God speaks to me through music. Either it’s encouragement or challenges or gentle reminders to seek Him… but he is always speaking to me in the lyrics.

  15. 20

    says

As a lead worshipper, music is my ministry. It’s one of the ways I am able to proclaim the love of Jesus and the will of God. When I’m listening to music, it reminds me of God’s truth and provokes me to seek more Truth.

Britt Nicole’s lyrics seem to speak my heart, especially “Set the World on Fire.” :)

it wraps itself around my mind…around every inch of me until i can’t help but feel the arms of God wrappd around me…even on bad days, it penetrates all of the anger and hurt and it heals my soul one note at a time…and on good days it makes me fly higher…it moves me to share Gods love and Grace with everyone around me…it makes my heart happy.

Christian music turns my focus off of me and onto God. Many times it puts life right back in perspective when I need a reality check. It encourages me and calms my heart. Current favorite group: MIKESCHAIR. I love Britt Nicole, too.

    Lyra Schroeder says

Oh, Christian music is just about the only music I listen to—it uplifts me, makes me happy, and reminds me of all of God’s promises! And I do absolutely love “Walk on the Water!” Beautiful song!

  20. 25

    Michelle says

I read a quote yesterday that every thought is a seed. You can’t plant crab apples and come out with golden delicious. Christian music is a good seed that sets the tone for a lot of my attitude for the rest of the day.

  21. 28

    says

worship music brings me peace, calms my soul and quiets my children. it encourages me and lifts me up and gives me a reason to dance around the room with my hands in the air

  22. 30

    says

Christian music lifts me up. A few time a year I have extra jobs I work and it involves me getting up super early, staying out late and talking to alot of people. I always blast my local christian radio station on the way to work because it really changes my mood for the entire day!

  23. 37

    Kathy says

Music makes my heart sing. I love to sing and for many years now the only music I sing is music that lifts the name of Jesus. I’ve learned there are many types of music that calls itself Christian, but I want something that truly glorifies God. This CD sounds very exciting to me. It obviously touched a special place in your heart.

  24. 38

    Heidi says

Worship music is the food of my soul! Life is crazy, often I have a wonderful quiet time with my Lord but as soon as I close my journal I am inundated with LIFE. If I keep music on all day it a constant reminder of where my focus ought to be.

  25. 39

    says

What DOESN’T worship music do for me? I am a huge music lover and most of the time my radio is set to KSBJ. I sing the songs at the top of my lungs in the car, in the shower, to my kids at home, and especially at church. I used to be part of the worship band at my old church and maybe someday I will be again. God speaks to me, I speak to him through music. The music elevates my mood and reminds me to be in a grateful, graceful, worshipful state all day long. Love Britt Nicole :)

  26. 40

    Missy says

Sometimes (oftentimes) praise and worship music is my doorway to the presence of God. When I feel like my prayers are just bouncing off of the ceiling right back to me, music seems to open the ceiling and gives me a clear path to God.

  27. 41

    says

As a pastor’s wife, sometimes church worship is filled with obligation. Although I try to have a worshipful experience on Sunday mornings, there are many distractions.

My most free times of worship happen privately, in the car or on a long walk with my iPhone.

My 8 year old daughter LOVES Britt Nicole. Britt opened for David Crowder in Louisville several months ago and from then on, it’s been her favorite music(quickly overtaking Miley Cyrus, woo hoo!)

It is wonderful to hear her sing about Walking on Water instead of running from paparazzi. That is a true moment of worship for me!

  28. 43

    says

Worship music helps me focus on the Father…. with all of the noise, stress, and distractions of my daily life, listening to worship music is like a blinking billboard pointing me back to what matters — God!

  29. 44

    says

Worship music just soothes my soul! It never fails that the message my spirit needs to be reminded of is found in a song that comes on just when I need it!

  30. 46

    Valerie says

Worship changes the mood in my home, if I’m cranky with the kids, or if they are cranky with me Worship puts us all in a better mood!

  31. 47

    Ann says

I love playing worship music in my car while driving with my kids. When I hear them singing along I feel God’s presence with us. It’s an amazing feeling, I want to laugh cry and smile all at the same time!!

  32. 48

    says

I notice that when I have Christian music on in the car, my kids are happier. I’m able to sing along and my 3 year old is learning the words, too. I also have it on at home and my house feels lighter and so do I. I need to learn to keep it on more often!!

  33. 49

    says

Christian music/worship is the only kind of music that we listen to. When we are in the truck, our local Christian music station is on…I even listen to it via the internet here in the house. It keeps me focused on WHO the real focus needs to be. When I’m having a super hard day with the kids, I try to get away from them and just listen to the music for a few minutes.

  34. 50

    Kimberly says

It refreshes me. I love to hear Christian music on my 30 minute commute. It gets me going and lifts my spirits.

  35. 53

    tina yaeger-goins says

It’s hard to stay sad, mad, depressed, etc. while listening to worship music. It speaks to me in a way that no other musics could even compare. It is what I listen to 99.5 % of the time, and I listen a lot! One of the best things is to hear my 5 year-old in the backseat belting out a worship song. Right now she is hooked on “I Will Boast” by Paul Baloche.

  36. 55

    says

What doesn’t worship music do for me?

“How He Loves” by David Crowder powers me through my last lap of my run. “Miracle Maker” by Delirious reminds me to praise God for being God.

When it is time to clean up and get dinner ready I turn on my iPod and let peace come in to quell the chaos. Sometimes I feel lame for not being up on current music, but it doesn’t satisfy my soul the way worship does.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  37. 56

    sara-bo-bara says

loved this video! what a precious girl she is with a powerful story. my 3 & 5 year old little girls walk around singing “how he loves” by john mark mcmillan(sp?) and we love listening to that together. can’t wait to hear what God is doing with you & your family!

  38. 58

    says

Worship music in my car helps me set my tone for my day… when I listen to it as I take the kids to school, I feel like it lifts them up, and then it helps me focus my mind and heart on God on my way to work.

      Angie says

Oh, and yes, worship music helps me keep my mind on things from above, no doubt… Most of my music is circa mid/late 90s, it’s time for some updating!

  39. 61

    Marcy M says

Music is a powerful thing. I believe the music we listen to really has an affect on the things we think about and how we react to certian situations. I love worhip muisic, it is my favorite thing to listen to. I often feel as if God is using a song to speek to me about someting I am going through or to remind me of how much he loves and cares for me.

  40. 62

    marky says

Ever since I was a teen Music speaks to my heart.. NOW.. I like to chose music that doesn’t stir up rebellion, but rather brings about a closeness and sense of peace in my heart.

Britt Nicole is a wonderful worship singer! Great Prize give away!

  41. 63

    Julie says

Worship music keeps me grounded and brings my focus back to Christ. Whenever I feel life getting crazy I turn on the worship music to remind me of where my focus and priorities should be…on Christ

  42. 64

    says

Oh COOL!! I’d only come across Brit Nicole a month or two ago, but I really like her stuff!

Music. Oh gosh, I can’t even begin to describe how important music is in our family. It uplifts, encourages, challenges … and, of course, worship music helps us draw closer to Him and focus on what’s REALLY important: Him and His ways.

  43. 67

    says

I am forever singing… all day long, my voice is raised in song. I love inspiring, powerful, catchy Christian music because, not only does it make my heart feel good, but I feel good when I hear my children echoing my words!

  44. 68

    jen c. says

Ooh, I really like Britt Nicole! Music has a way of getting in my head and sticking with me more than anything else. I replay songs over and over in my head and if it’s a positive message then all the better.

  45. 69

    says

Christian music is just what I want running through my head all day long. Praise God for Christian radio! Sarah Groves is my favorite. I would LOVE to win this. Thanks for the chance!

  46. 70

    says

I don’t really care about winning anything (I never win anyway), but I just wanted to say I cannot WAIT for you to share more about your family’s thoughts and plans. I was thinking about you last night and wanting to contact you and ask what you’re thinking—- because while I have not been to Africa or read “Radical” or anything like that, I have been struck with some sort of obsession that I need to get off my duff and do something for others around the world….. but what? We just signed up to sponsor another Compassion child, our 3rd (to match the # of kids we have), and it thrills me to do that. But it’s not enough. I want to sponsor them all, I want to take them all home with me, or go visit them, or sell my house, DO SOMETHING!!! The “American Dream” is boring and doesn’t draw anyone to Jesus, and I don’t want that for my 3 children. But how do you get out of it? Can’t wait to hear what God is doing in your family’s hearts and what you are following Him into!!!!

  47. 73

    says

Christian music reminds me of what I’m living for. It also tends to make me remember to be grateful for the little things and be happy that I have two wonderful children (even if they are screaming at the time).

  48. 74

    Natalie J. Vandenberghe says

It’s funny that while I’m completing this contest entry I’m listening to “Amazing Love” on Hope107.9 (Albany, OR). I love music and love that God is able to use these very talented songwriters, singers, and musicians to get his word out. Some people would be more receptive to music than the spoken word. I have chills as I think of His almighty power and divine wisdom. Thanks for the giveaway.

  49. 75

    Linda R. says

I love having Christian music on in our home. When the lyrics are laced with God’s Word, it helps me to keep a heavenly perspective. Even when the worries of this world and the daily stresses of life are trying to weigh me down, I can know God’s peace. And it reminds me that I need to be wise, making the most of my time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16).

  50. 78

    Cheryl Newsted says

We just saw Brit Nicole in concert and my 11 year old LOVED her! We listen to a lot of different Christian music and are very blessed to have multiple Christian radio stations in the area. Different styles of Christian music bring about different things. When we need to clean the house quick, DC Talk does the trick. :) I’d like to compile a list of songs on my ipod to walk too! God uses music to strengthen us, remind us, slow us down, pep us up…so many things. I know why music is mentioned so much in the Psalms. It’s an everyday component of our lives!

  51. 79

    says

When I’m in the rush of the day, I tend to think of all that I need to do. Worship music helps me recenter, refocues on God. That reminds me not of what I’m doing, but WHY. It’s a breath of fresh air – rejuvenating my spirit and reenergizing my body.

  52. 80

    says

Worship music brings my heart and mind right back to where I need to be – focusing on the Lord. We absolutely love Britt Nicole’s music!

  53. 81

    Sally says

Oh my, what beautiful music. I’ll wait to see if I win, but if not it’s on my “to buy” list for sure.
Worship music soothes my soul, calms me when I most need it!

  54. 82

    says

Worship music for me is a release. It causes me to stop, worship and focus on our creator, instead of what is bringing me down. There is no mood that a little worship music doesn’t fix for me.

And, btw, I just saw her perform this song last Saturday! It’s beautiful!

  55. 83

    says

Worship music centers me. It purges me, brings Christ to the center of my focus & connects me to His presence. Thanks for the opportunity to win. This is a great giveaway

  56. 85

  57. 86

    April says

Christian music brings me peace after a long day at school. My husband and I are currently volunteering at our church’s K-12 school as chaplains and myself also as “lunch lady.” Our days are long and sometimes grueling, but tuning into K-Love or other Christian tunes really takes the load off. 59. 91

    says

Christian music and worship music are soothing to me and help me focus on what is truly important – God. I fill my iPod and take my walks around the park. I listen to it at work. I listen in the car. Sometimes when driving I can get so stressed out, but if I listen to Christian music it helps me stay calm and focus!

  60. 92

    says

What does Christian music do for me? What does it not do for me!?! Listening to songs like this one, Walk on Water, it truly puts things into perspective for me. It reminds me what’s most important in life and that I have to cling to the truths of God. Usually while listening to Christian music, I reflect on what obstacles and blessings I have come in contact with recently and what I feel like God is trying to teach me through those things. I already loved Britt Nicole’s Walk on Water but after watching this video, I love it even more!

  61. 93

    Kelly W. says

Listening to Christian music or singing in worship is really my way to connect with God. I feel like everything else becomes less important and I can just open my heart and sing my praises. It’s makes me feel free!

  62. 95

    says

Oh my gosh, it just gets me all the way down to my heart. I will cry or laugh or nod my head to Christian music. The writer’s words are where I have been, where I am, or where I want to be and the singer or band just makes it fill me up. I love Christian music and I am so glad I started listening to each exclusively a couple of years ago. It definitely speaks to me!

  63. 96

    Christie says

I choose to listen to the Christian radio station while I’m in the car. THAT is the music I want running through my head while I’m at work. THAT is the music I want to be humming while I do the dishes. THAT is the lyrics I want to focus on.

  64. 97

    Jeanette says

I listen to worship music to and from work everyday. It makes me start my day out remembering that I want people to “feel the love of Jesus” from me. I rarely listen to secular music, and every time I do, I am reminded why I don’t!

  65. 98

    Dawnette Thomas says

Not only does good Christian music bring me peace, it also shifts my focus on greater and more worthy things. I can remember I’m a daughter of the King and for that alone I have nothing to complain about, that is the focus music can bring into my life in mere matter of seconds.

  66. 100

    Patricia Hardy says

I love Britt Nicole – her music is so good! For me, Christian music helps center me after a long day at work. Secular music, while I do enjoy it, does not provide the same calm to my soul.

  67. 101

    Sonya says

It is my worship every morning on my drive to work! I don’t think I could make it through the day without it!

  68. 102

Christian music keeps me grounded and focused…where my focus needs to be!

  79. 124

    Jennifer says

Good solid UPbeat worship helps me to refocus my ENTIRE being on God being here. now. with. me. In all that I am doing -even the mundane tasks of a mom. I’ve needed it a lot this summer.

  80. 126

    says

Worship music calms me down and I feel immediate peace and calmness. I love that my kids sing along to the songs. We love Britt Nicole in our house. My 3 year little boy loves to watch a youtube video of Britt singing “The Lost Get Found” acoustically. He sits there mesmerized by the song and at the end, he quietly says “amen.”

  81. 127

    Kirsten says

It brings tears to my eyes. I spent far too long thinking that all was wrong in the world so there couldn’t possibly be a God (starting in those angsty teenage years), and find myself very emotional now when I listen to Christian music and attend church.

  82. 128

    monica says

Listening to Christian music keeps my mind and heart on Godly things. And it refreshes my spirit.
