I downloaded a great little family Lent devotional guide and envisioned healthy, spiritual discussions around the table with my husband and children as we prepared our hearts for Easter.

Um, so about that.

We are 9 days behind and the last time I opened it, one of my kids was under the table having a meltdown because two of her veggies were touching something else on her plate.

I slammed down my Kindle and said, “Just forget it.”

Because sometimes I forget the reason behind my intention. I work to create an atmosphere of holiness and happiness in our home and then humanity gets in the way.

We did the dishes and I huffed and puffed my way thru.

I heard the whisper, from the one who is Easter, Risen, a constant reminder when my imperfection ruins my intention, “Kristen, I love you for who you are and not what you do.”

Why do I so often forget these precious, important, healing words? It’s not what I do. And I do a lot. It’s who I am-that’s what He wants during this Holy season and every day before and after. Once again, God shows me it’s my inadequacy that leads me to his feet. It’s my imperfection that my children see and learn from.

I’m here to tell you: HE LOVES YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE AND NOT WHAT YOU DO. [Col. 2:13-14]

So, can I urge you to stop and just receive His love today.

It’s called grace and that’s what Easter is all about.

lovedandredeemed-3

You are loved and redeemed.

He wore the cruel crown of thorns so we could wear a pure heart.

Put that on today.

If you’d like to win this limited edition beautiful reminder above, created by The Vintage Pearl, leave a comment as your entry.

This giveaway ends on Good Friday.

“I work to create an atmosphere of holiness and happiness in our home and then humanity gets in the way.” That was me this morning, and, honestly, most mornings. Thank you for the reminder that I’m not alone in this. The necklace is beautiful, thanks for the giveaway. And I laughed so hard this morning reading about your fish. So sorry, but I needed that!

Thank you, for creating this blog. As a stay-at home mom of 3 very active boys, I look forward to reading your entries and how I can relate. I know how it feels to do all this work to make sure everyone else is “full” physically and spiritually and sometimes losing the battle. You reminded me today that I just need to try my best and do all things for the glory of God! Thanks again!!

*sigh* “What I do” seems to be so much more pressing on my mind sometimes….most times….than who I am. I need to be reminded of this over and over and over again.. Thank you. And thank you for the sweet giveaway. :)

Just had this same realization the other day as I realized our Lenten devotional was at home on our kitchen table & we are out of state at my father-in-law’s funeral. God is OK that we aren’t following the devotional guide. We are praying and living, celebrating my FIL’s life! What a beautiful necklace! Great reminder of His amazing love for us!

Wow! I thought my daughter was the ONLY kid who didn’t want food touching on her plate. Glad to know she’s normal! LOL. But seriously, it is God’s free gift, and His incredible sacrifice that guide me through my days, each and every day! Thank goodness it’s not anything I can DO, because some days I would be heading south for sure!

Sometimes I am so aware that my sin alone could have hung Him on that cross. Thank you for this beautiful reminder that we are not alone and that we are forgiven and redeemed. I would love to wear that necklace as a reminder and to share that Good News(that Great News) with others.

I read the first few paragraphs of this post to my husband and said, who does this remind you of? Umm, you, was his response. Yep. But even on the days I feel like a failure, my kids still hug and kiss me goodnight and they mean it. Grace, grace, God’s grace.

  18. 336

God is glorifying Himself in our weakness, and is made stronger in our clumsy good intentions.
What a beautiful reminder of Christ. The cross, where love was proved, and the beautiful pearl of what Holiness is, and the death it conquered.

Thank you for your honesty with “just forget it”. I too, a bit too often, find myself with that same attitude slamming into me when things are not going according to my plan. I don’t have the answer as to how I can combat that because my desire to impart God’s truth into my family’s life is strong. But, I have let go of some of my need to do the imparting in “such and such” way…letting it go, going concise and simpler, and grabbing onto God’s faithfulness that even in the smaller imparting ways that the truths will sink into the kids. Anyway, its still good to know that I am not the only one who finds herself saying “just forget it”.

I recently discovered your blog and have read every single word of it! My husband and I were blessed with a daughter and we raised her to stand firm in Christ in this culture that is filled with norms and entitlement. She is now 21 and living her life through Him — and bringing others with her. What a beautiful necklace — thank you for the giveaway!

The Lord has been speaking to my heart about contentment… my discontent has been spilling over onto my family making for a cranky tone in our home. Praising God that I’m Loved and Redeemed despite my shortcomings! Thanks for the giveaway!

I JUST read this today and oh, how I needed this message … after a particularly nasty meltdown (by all) at my house last night. My 3 year old son tells me this morning, “mommy, Easter isn’t about the Easter Bunny and treats, it’s about Jesus!!!”

    Kailene says

    Melissa D says

Oh, my goodness. I needed this reminder. In what has been a C.R.A.Z.Y. week, with not one but two medical emergencies, a week that should have sent me running for my Lenten devotional and my bible, I am horribly, desperately behind. And I feel like I can’t even begin to sit my kids down to share these things, and so how awful am I for that? So I needed this reminder that it’s still all about Him and that He still loves me, as is.

  28. 358

    Lisa Uhl says

Needed to read this tonight as I sit in my room quietly stewing over my son who treats his sister like crap. What have I done wrong in parenting him? I’m so thankful for His grace that will lead me thru it.
