Today’s devotion is in partnership with Thomas Nelson. All opinions are mine.
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things.” Romans 10:15
When I was in the 10th grade, I got to pray with my best friend about her decision to follow Jesus. I expected her decision to change her life. But I had no idea, it would change mine, too. With that decision for my friend, came an insatiable hunger for God’s Word. She called me constantly with questions about Scripture and revived something I took for granted–my salvation. It didn’t take long for me to realize I had to be in my Bible to keep up with my friend.
A couple of months ago, something similar happened to my oldest daughter when her dear friend–a foreign exchange student from Spain, accepted Christ in her life. It’s been sweet to watch this friendship unfold as these two world changers pursue Jesus together. My daughter wanted to celebrate her friend’s public water baptism and so she gave her a Bible. What better gift to give a new believer?
I’ve watched how one decision has changed two lives.
I can’t think of anything more beautiful than watching my daughter fall deeper in love with Jesus as she’s watched her friend meet Him for the first time.
I would guess I’m a lot like you–I don’t read my Bible as much as I should or could. But I know it holds the answers to my questions, the challenge to my norm and the encouragement my soul craves.
So, when I discover a resource that makes Bible reading easier or helpful, I like to share it. The Women’s Study Bible by Thomas Nelson is beautiful Scripture–not just because of the pretty cover, colorful illustrations and heartfelt stories, but because it’s written by women for women.
I’m a busy mom and wife and I’m constantly running with work and life and I desperately need to quiet my spirit and refresh daily in the Word of God. This beautiful Bible beckons me to linger, to go a little deeper with the study notes, to learn a little more in the in the historical content, to read inspiring quotes from leaders among women. My church teaches verse-by-verse. It took us more than a year to go through the book of Mark and we are now in Acts. I love re-reading what we’re studying and reading ahead and this Woman’s Study Bible is taking me deeper into God’s Word.
