I did a happy dance next to my desk at work and then quickly looked around to make sure no one was watching.
I’m not much of a dancer, but every once in a while something so powerful, so holy, so dance-worthy happens that I just can’t help myself.
It was a good day. It was two steps forward in a job where success is often difficult to measure.
You know what I’m talking about–those little victories in parenting, marriage, work and the bottom of empty laundry baskets that just make you want to keep going.
But just when you think you’ve started overcoming, can see the way out of a hard situation, climbed halfway up that mountain, surpassed an obstacle, made a little progress—
There he is again, the enemy breathing down your neck, throwing hell and heartbreak your way.
One minute I was dancing at work and the next I was kicked in the gut by defeat at home–all in the same day. I sat on my bed reeling that night from a painful conversation that left me sad and discouraged.
And some people think my life is sexy.
But for every success, there has been failure. For every mountain, there has been a valley. For every sweet victory, there has been sacrifice. For every good day, there have been countless bad.
The enemy doesn’t stop. He won’t give up. Don’t think for a minute he is done with you. His goal is to wear us out and break us down (Daniel 7:25) and he will do whatever it takes to discourage and defeat you.
And the more you surrender, the more you sacrifice, the more you serve, the harder he fights you.
I dried my tears and sat up in bed. I shook my fist in the air and said out loud, you cannot stop me.
I won’t stop.
We won’t give up.
We won’t walk away.
We will believe for the impossible
We will fight for the improbable.
We will overcome the insurmountable.
We are unstoppable.
We are unshakeable.
Because we are never fighting alone.
“God is faithful. He’ll fulfill every promise he’s made. There’s no disease God cannot heal, no heart he cannot mend, no bondage he cannot break, no enemy he cannot defeat, no mountain he cannot move, and no need he cannot meet. And because that same Spirit lives inside each of us, we move forward undaunted; we are unstoppable; and we live unshakeable. Focus on our unshakeable God instead of the chaos around you and he will carry you through the challenges and on to victory.”- Christine Caine
