My family loves cake! We would pass up a pie and ice cream any day for a moist piece of cake. We don’t even need forks. Because we are classy like that.
I thought I’d share an easy, economical way to know your cake is ready in the center. I used to use toothpicks, but I don’t always have those on hand and plus I burn myself easily because they are so short.
My tip: Take one dry spaghetti noodle and insert it into the middle of the cake, if it comes out clean. you’re ready to let them eat cake!
You can read theΒ WFMW guidelines here!
Please note that I changed the themed suggestions for the next few months (you can read them here). In two weeks, I’d love for you to share your favorite summer recipe! Please remember that themes are just a suggestion. As always, you’re free to link up any tip that works for you!
Great idea! We usually have spaghetti noodles on-hand. We’re also cake-lovers. We don’t need icing…. just bring on the cake and a big glass of milk!
Oh! Now there’s a smart idea. I’m a toothpick-user too, but this makes a whole lot more sense…and I’ve always got spaghetti noodles in the house. Thanks for the tip!
I do the same thing (the spaghetti trick)!! Much better than a toothpick…I learned it from my grandma. I used to not be a “cake person” at. all. But! Now I love, love, love cake! (but…the cake must be cold! – straight out of the fridge, please! yum!!)
Now that’s a great idea! I usually use the bounce back method (poke the top and it should bounce back), but I’ve noticed on some things I bake it’s not a good indicator. The boys will get a kick out of this one!
Thanks! I would have never thought of that.
How cool is that?! I’ve always used toothpicks, but this would make a lot more sense for a deep cake. π
Thank you for hosting each week!
So clever!! I would have never thought of that!
Pardon the pun THAT’s using your noodle! Great idea.
I *never* would have thought of that! So smart!
Great idea! Never thought of a noodle…
Thanks for hosting as always!
WHY have I been using a knife all these years? Just one more thing to wash! Love this tip, keep ’em coming, please. π
That is a great tip–toothpicks are just not long enough for bundt cakes! Genius!
AWESOME IDEA!!! My hubby always takes my toothpicks so whenever I need them they are not there. I will be using this idea next time I make a cake. Thank you for hosting!
Blessings!
Great idea! I’m a little ashamed I hadn’t thought of that! Such a simple straight from the cupboard fix! Thanks for sharing!
I do that, especially with bundt cakes which are much deeper than other cakes.
Oh wow! Had no idea you could use a piece of spaghetti! Top tip! Thank you!!!
Thank you for hosting the linky!
Maggy
This is a great tip!
Thanks again for hosting WFMW. π
“Because we are classy like that.”
I am crackin up!!!!!!
Blessings to you this day,

Great tip for teaching cooking with kids. It’s a lot safer for testing.
Today I linked up to my post on homemade pesto. It is so easy! When I first learned I could make my own, and how simple it is, I couldn’t believe I had been paying that much for it in the store!
Great idea! I always end up using a fondue fork but that leaves some pretty big holes! Haha. Never would have thought of a spaghetti noodle.
Oh, boy I see SO MANY posts I want to read! It’s going to take me a week to read most of these. I don’t know how anyone gets to all these good ideas.
Thanks for hosting!
Thanks for that tip. I have always used toothpicks, but never thought of using a spaghetti noodle!
This is my first time linking up! I look forward to digging through these links!
How neat–so I guess the noodle doesn’t break easily?? I will have to try that next time. π
Smart move! That is an awesome idea…noodles always remind me of my physics class in high school. Our teacher used to love making us use them for different projects i.e. building a bridge so a little toy car could go over it!
That could be a whole post in itself. 101 ways to use your noodle! π
Blessings to you,
lana @ http://www.ilovemy5kids.blogspot.com
I really like your idea Kristen! I’m going to try it.
Thanks for hosting WFMW!
Fun blog! I have added your link party to my Linky Love Library page on my blog. Thanks for hosting.

Thanks so much for hosting! Have a great week, thanks for the spaghetti noodle tip :).
Oh so easy– I love it! Also, I have to say that when I read the title to this post, I immediately thought of the Bill Cosby routine where he rationalizes letting his kids have cake for breakfast (it has eggs! flour! etc).
I am so excited about this tip! I lost my Pampered Chef cake tester not too long ago. You just saved me money. π
What a fun tip! This is a great way to let the kiddos help and not get burnt. Thanks!
