WFMW: On Finding Balance {Plus E-book Roundup}

October 2, 2012 by Kristen

I pack a lot into a day:  Between running a non-profit, mothering, wifing, writing, blogging and creating dinner masterpieces (one of these is an exaggeration), I’m busy.

But I maintain strict office hours and work hard not to open my computer before my kids are in school and make sure it’s closed once they get back home, until they are in bed for the night. Some days I fail, but I work hard to be disciplined in this area.

When we moved recently, we looked for a house with a little more backyard space so we could convert a storage building into a work/volunteer space for Mercy House. We are so thankful we did! It has shifted the work and all that goes with it out of our garage and overflowing into our house and has give us just the degree of separation we needed. Except for my dining room table tonight which is loaded with new products for The Mercy Shop.

If you find the same struggle or you’re trying to stretch more hours in the day as a homeschool mom or an at-home business owner, I think you’ll gain a lot from the ebook,Work Shift by Anne Bogel.  Click here to view more details. It offers excellent advice for combining work and family.

I also wanted to share a great deal for only {5 bucks} and it goes to an amazing cause.

This lovely lady lost her husband very unexpectedly and is now facing life and raising her five children without him. As a way to help their family while still providing a great resource for readers, my friend Mandi brought together a small group of bloggers and put together a pretty amazing benefit sale, which includes the 9 ebooks listed below plus the complete set of Life Your Way printables. Ah yes…..balance. It can be soo difficult, can’t it? A little while ago our pastor did a sermon series on balance. It was a really good service. I work hard on trying to balance our daily schedule. The kids aren’t allowed to do more than one extracurricular activity at a time other than Awana…..and that’s plenty for this mom!! I do some graphic design for free for our church, but I require requests to be given to me 1-2 weeks before the item is needed…..because I don’t want to be all stressed out trying to whip up some neat poster in a few hours when I’m supposed to be spending time with my family….and honestly, if that were to happen, I’d tell the person that I couldn’t do the poster and next time to give me more time before the deadline. Since the sermon series, I’m not afraid to say ‘no’ to people. ….and to be honest with you…my family is WAY more important than someone’s hurt feelings, when it comes down to it. I know….that was harsh, but that’s how I see it. 🙂

    Achieving balance in the many roles we each have is so difficult — possible only through Holy Spirit guidance. Thanks for the great post and for hosting the linkup, & God bless!

    Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone and
    tested to see if it can survive a twenty five foot
    drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83
    views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
